Somers Wedding

Can you say monsoon??? Well that is apparently what Mother Nature had in mind for the day of the Somers’ Wedding. This probably wouldn’t have been too horrible, if it hadn’t been an outdoor wedding of course. The ceremony went off perfectly, no problems at all. I had everyone in the wedding party ready to take photos and after about 5 different poses the droplets started coming down sparingly. I decided not to take any chances and quickly got everyone under the tent to work some magic. I was even able to get Chad & Christie back outside for some posed shots which was nice. One of my favorite photos from the day though was during the horrible downpour that ensued after photos that was just unbelievable (the storm, not necessarily my shot). I can honestly say I was happy to be in and completely under the tent as I watch it all come down. Anyways this shot that I got is of the bride being upset over the weather (who could blame her) and he is comforting her. Needless to say I knew then he was going to make one heck of a husband : ).

Spossey Wedding

As previously mentioned I have taken some serious time between the holidays to re-edit some of my older weddings. With all of the new Photoshop perks that I have learned I wanted to put them to good use, and well this was definitely the way. Plus, it’s been nice to go back and revisit these events and recall the many memories surrounding them.

This wedding was from back in September 2007, and I certainly remember it as being one of the most unbearably hot days!!! I had a blast with this family, as I knew many of them from the Patino wedding that previous July. Everyone was very laid back and easy to work with. We had a great time taking photos down at the waterfront as well.

Make sure to check back next Monday for the Somers Wedding! Until then, become a fan on Facebook today and check out all of the other photos that have been posted!!!

Patino Wedding

I am taking some time between the holidays to do some solid updating work to parts of my online portfolios. First item of business – weddings! With this will come some new posts in which I revisit each respective wedding along with a selection of photographs. I photographed the Patino Wedding in July 2007, and this was actually my first formal wedding, it’s also one of my favorite weddings that I’ve done so far. This beautiful bride and groom made my job so easy, and they were so laid back and easy going it was just enjoyable all around. I can’t help but smile whenever I review their photos, true love certainly doesn’t get any sweeter, but I’ll certainly let you decide. For a full album please feel free to visit my website or facebook.

Sherwood Family Portraits

I hope everyone had a great holiday this past week/weekend. On Thursday night (12/23) I had the luxury of photographing the Sherwood children for a special Christmas present. I have to say these kids are ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! Their energy was excellent to feed off of, and they could not WAIT until I got some of the more formal stuff done, so they could really let loose, and they certainly enjoyed my Christmas related props as well : ).

Everdyke Portraits

Unfortunately it has taken quite some time for me to make this post. When I posted the Kubiak engagement photos I was in the process of editing the following photos, and I didn’t want to bombard everything, but apparently I learned that I should just do that because otherwise it takes me 2 months to make the necessary post! Anyhow, I’ve included photos that I took of my brother’s beautiful family below. We did studio shots inside, and then went outside and played in some leaves and on the swing set. It’s amazing the different a year makes because last year my nephew did not want to take any photos, and my niece was all for it, and this year it was opposite…strange. It will be interesting to see what next year brings : ). ENJOY!!!

Happy Holidays to everyone!!!

Words of Wisdom

I attended a tradeshow this last week in Orlando, Fl. Besides some BEAUTIFUL weather it was an unforgettable experience which resulted in some great motivation now that I have returned. I am looking forward to the Sherwood Photo Shoot this Sunday afternoon. It’s been a long time since they had photos taken of the kids, let alone of the family, so I am REALLY excited for this opportunity.

All of that aside though…I found this quote in a book I was looking over and made sure to take a picture of it so that I did not forget. Here it is!

‎”Are you bored or unfulfilled with life? Then throw yourself into some work you believe in with all your heart, live for it, die for it, and you will find happiness that you had thought could never be yours.” ~ from the book ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’ by Dale Carnegie – Published in 1936

Wruck/Kubiak Engagement

I traveled to the suburbs of Buffalo, NY a few weeks ago to do the engagement session for a good friend and her fiance. I was very excited to be doing this one for a number of reasons. One was that it’s fall here in New York and that means the trees are all changing colors and looking absolutely BEAUTIFUL to be using as a natural backdrop, and two these two lovebirds are so damn cute together that I knew it would be so much fun (and easy) to capture some excellent shots of them – sure enough I was right! I’ve included a sample of the captured shots below.

For a larger selection of images from this photo shoot, view this page here. Sooooo looking forward to their wedding in October 2011!!!

On my way back to Syracuse I stopped off at my brother’s to do their family portraits and such. I had a blast with those as well doing some studio stuff along with outdoors in the leaves. I’ll be posting some of those images soon as well.

While recently shopping for a couple of new equipment pieces I came across one photographer’s website who included a peak into what is in his photography bag. Seeing this definitely popped the idea into my head, combined with some friends asking me what kind of lenses I have and what I use them for. With that being said here is an idea of what is in my Photography Bag:

Sorry for the not-so-good photo of the bag. I had to use the point and shoot because of course my cameras are in the bag! Unfortunately you aren’t able to actually see all of the pieces as well as I had hoped :( .

Camera Bodies
Canon EOS 50D (15mp)
Canon Rebel XT (8 mp)

Camera Lenses
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Macro Lens
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Sigma Zoom lens – 28 mm – 300 mm – F/3.5-6.3
Phoenix 100-400mm f/4.5-6.7

Flash
Promaster 7500EDF Digital Electronic Flash
I have another one put away for right now that is broken, but I have every intention of getting it fixed. My guess is that the bulb blew on the flash. (FYI…not a good thing to have happen as the bride is being walked down the aisle with her father)

Accessories
Gary Fong Lightsphere Universal Pro Kit (best thing ever!!!)
Filters (hardly ever used so not worth listing)
Batteries (2 for each camera along with Energizer rechargeable AA’s for flash units)
Battery Grip
Memory Cards
SanDisk Memory Card Reader (not pictured)

I am sure that I have various other pieces of equipment that should be listed here but unfortunately they are not coming to mind. So how about you…what are some of the pieces in your camera bag that you absolutely could not do without???

An original quote to leave you with:
Don’t forget, your actions today shapes your future of tomorrow, which shapes your next week, next month, and next year. Chase the opportunity of today and continue to reach your ever growing potential of tomorrow.

I completed my first “official” senior portrait session a couple of weeks ago, and then proceeded to get SLAMMED with other photography business after photographing the Victor Classic Softball Tournament, and then the 19th Annual Finger Lakes Classic Fastpitch Tournament. (photos to come soon(ish) I am not complaining in any way shape or form, I was just blindsided is all and not as prepared as I would have liked to have been.

Anyways…the senior portrait session went great, and although the heat and humidity were horrible I am proud of Justin for making it through. Afterall he was wearing a longsleeve shirt, and at times his heavy heavy lettermans jacket. Below are a sample of some of his edited images : ).

Sorry to have taken such a long leave of absence on here! This past Saturday night I had the honor of photographing the wedding reception for Tresta & Eric. They got married in North Carolina a couple of weeks ago and came back to celebrate with their family and friends. Their wedding photos were BEAUTIFUL from the photographer in NC and honestly I was quite jealous, but at the same time I have to remind myself I have not had the honor of photographing along the ocean at all. Anyways as I edited photos last night I only got through about half of the photos, but wanted to share a few of my favorites that I’ve found so far…ENJOY!!!
